We talked about this in Astronomy. Technically we are on the tail end of the ‘quiet’ sunspot cycle segment. They should start reappearing any day now, though they are taking an abnormally long time to appear. News articles about the incoming ice age base their arguments on these missing sunspots, as a long-term absence of sunspot activity would launch the Earth into a mini ice age.
